Poverty and Vulnerability in the Ethiopian Lowlands : Building a More Resilient Future
IPE Triple Line prepared a report for the Department of International Development on the “Sources of Growth in Lowland Peripheries”. This was the basis for Chapter 9 of the World Bank report on the ‘Economic Development in the Lowlands’. This report was led jointly by experts from World Bank and DFID and it consists of nine detailed chapters that examine different dimensions of poverty, vulnerability, and resilience to shocks in the Ethiopian lowlands. This body of evidence we contributed to led to the World Bank support the Government of Ethiopia’s efforts to improve the livelihoods and resilience of 2.5 million pastoralists and agro-pastoralists. This is a great step in the right direction to support these communities.
