The Department of Women and Child Development, Government of Rajasthan, in partnership with IPE Global Limited, supported by the Children Investment Fund Foundation (CIFF) organised a two-day workshop on 31 October and 1 November 2017 in Jaipur. The workshop aimed at sharing learnings from various Behaviour Change communication interventions across Rajasthan and other states to promote cross-learning and sharing among the government and the development partners; and creating a consensus among the key stakeholders to develop a state level Behaviour Change communication framework, strategy and operational plan. The workshop witnessed a keynote addresses and presentations from the government & donor agencies.
Raghwesh Ranjan, Head- Governance said, “There is a need for a united approach to combat malnutrition and associated challenges. It is imperative to not only develop and deliver standard messages on nutrition, but also ensure that they are inclusive, scalable, and meet local needs.”
Hon'ble Minister Women & Child Development, Government of Rajasthan, Anita Bhadel, graced the occasion by her presence. She acknowledged the initiative and was keen to know the objectives outlined at the two-day event. Rakesh Srivastava, Secretary, Women & Child Development, Government of India was also among others who witnessed the presentations closely.
Day two of the workshop marked a series of group discussion followed by presentations on curbing malnutrition in pregnant and lactating women & children.
Government of India's plans to replace Take-home rations under ICDS programme with cash for children under 3 and pregnancy and lactating mothers is definitely an idea worth trying.
Cash transfers coupled with behaviour change drive could potentially be more effective in fast paced reduction in mother and child malnutrition.
IPE Global to support ICDS reforms in areas of maternal & child nutrition.
