These "small" and "low-fee" private schools walk a tightrope to break even and their competition generally is with nearby government schools.
During the pandemic, these schools and their teachers have suffered the most to make their ends meet. Since a significant chunk of children from these schools will also be expected to join government schools the government may think of providing them some support or make provisions in the public system to absorb these children. Education, being on the concurrent list, is supported by the central government through various schemes.
