Web App AntaraRaj launched for tracking Antara uptake on World Population Day 2018, Jaipur

National Health Mission, Rajasthan organised an event to commemorate the World Population Day on 11th July 2018 in Jaipur. The event saw the participation of some of the important government dignitaries of Rajasthan such as Shri Kali Charan Saraf, Honourable Minister, Medical and Health & Family Welfare, Shri Bansidhar Khandela, State Minister (Health), Veenu Gupta, Additional Chief Secretary to Government, Medical and Health & Family Welfare Department, Shri Naveen Jain, MD NHM and Secretary, Dr. Arushi Malik, Additional Mission Director, NHM - Rajasthan, Dr. V.K. Mathur, Director, Public Health, Dr. S. M. Mittal, Director, Reproductive Child Health and representatives of all the development partners likes, EngenderHealth, Ipas, FRHS, Pathfinder, IPE Global, and district health officials, front line workers from Mission Parivar Vikas (MPV) districts.
The event focused on discussing the benefits and hazards of the growing population, population stabilisation, on-going programmes in family planning, AntaraRaj launch and award ceremony for the best performing district health officers and front-line workers. It also gave opportunity to the development partners to display their IEC material by exhibiting in stalls.
Antara, a new injectable contraceptive was launched last year on 11th July 2017. The Health Department’s report revealed concern for drop-out and need for advocating a digital tracking for follow-up of users besides incorporating other features such as reminders for 2nd and 3rd due doses of Antara.
AntaraRaj, a web application for tracking Antara uptake and reminder services for users has been developed by NHM Rajasthan with the support of Children’s Investment Fund Foundation (CIFF) funded and IPE Global implemented Udaan project in 2017-18.
Addressing the event, Shri Kali Charan Saraf and Shri Bansidhar Khandela highlighted the importance of use of web application for effective follow-up of the Antara uptake. Shri Naveen Jain also emphasised that the software will help in analysing user profiles and report generation and will effectively support in family planning. He further expressed that till now 26,400 women have received first dose, in 2018-19, 18,000 doses of Antara injections have been administered. Besides this, the total number of doses administered to women is 31,209 in 2017-18.
